The Wild Places by Robert MacFarlane is a series of journeys into remote areas of the British Isles, informed by anecdotal, literary, geographical and philosophical references. Drawings and paintings in response to this book were led by the notion of an ‘Isolarion’, an early detail map without information on how places connect. I sought to convey something incomplete, isolated, suggestive of the potential for further exploration, and of disappearance.

I have developed these drawings as a one-off selection of fine bone china tableware, using traditional western enamel painting techniques and non-traditional composition. A balance between decorative intricacy and something less comfortable, a fresh luxury.

Each piece is unique.
